MOA Fall Workshop: A Day of Learning and Exploring

On Thursday, November 12th MOA hosted their 2021 fall workshop!

The workshop, Produce Farming: Getting Started and Maximizing Productivity, was presented virtually through Zoom. Patrick Byers of MU Extension led the participants through two different sessions focused on produce farming. He went into detail on everything that you need to consider for getting started as well as what you should think about for making a profit. It was a great class for beginner growers looking to make use of their land as well as those just getting started in growing produce.

“That was such a great workshop, I learned so many new things about how to utilize the land!”  – Conference Participant, Sylvia Donnelly

Additionally, the Missouri Organic Association hosted an in-person watch party for those who were interested in attending but a bit tired of dealing with Zoom. The in-person watch party was held at the beautiful Hartsburg Grand, one of the two new buildings that the Missouri Organic Association were generously gifted earlier this year. Those that attended in person were seated with spacing in accordance with local health guidelines and enjoyed a delicious locally sourced meal provided by a Columbia favorite, Main Squeeze.

If you’re interested in learning more about organic farming and connecting with local farmers, register for the 13th annual Mid-America Conference that will be held Thursday, February 4th – Friday, February 5th, 2021!
