Join us for a Fund Your Farm Field Day at Fair Share Farm to walk through 20 years of farm bill supported improvements to Rebecca Graff and Tom Ruggieri’s diversified vegetable operation, from integrated pest management to native tree and shrub plantings. Learn how you can add value to your operation while conserving resources for future generations of farmers through CSP, EQUIP, SARE, and more.

The USDA-NRCS is better equipped than ever to provide you quality technical & financial assistance through a variety of programs, but we’ve heard from many of our members that acronyms and practice numbers can leave them feeling confused about what is physically possible. This farm visit aims to help answer those pending questions.

A Q/A session and refreshment break for networking will also be part of the agenda. A suggested donation of $10 at check-in helps support our mission but no one will be turned away! This event is free to attend thanks to the support from the USDA-NRCS.

Fair Share Farm was started by Rebecca Graff and Tom Ruggieri when they moved to her family farm in 2003. For 20 years they have been working to build soil and community, including 18 years as a CSA farm providing vegetables for a membership of up to 150 families in the Kansas City area. In 2016 they constructed a commercial kitchen and began producing live-culture ferments with their vegetables. In 2020 they installed over 7,000 linear feet of berms and swales to better manage water on the farm, and improve the farm’s resiliency. In addition, they planted over 400 trees and shrubs to provide nuts and fruits for sale and processing. Tom will discuss the work and planning that have shaped the farm’s many transitions.
